Program
Philosophy
Safety of all students is the main
objective of the Folsom Falcon’s Nesting Place (FFNP). This program is
designed to meet the needs of the working parents and their children in
providing a safe, supervised program for all children.
This program is operational during the time that a child is usually at
home, thus the program should compliment rather than supplement the school’s
curriculum. It is designed to meet the developmental needs of the children and
to support the family and activities that are normal and healthy for the age
level being serviced.
The morning time will be a quiet time for
chatting, reading, coloring, doing homework, watching television, or playing a
quiet board game. The afternoon session will be structured the same as the
morning session with the exception of allowing the children to unwind and talk
about the day. They will be encouraged to go outside, weather permitting,
however, more indoor options will
also be available. Special ongoing projects will be developed based upon the
children’s interests and needs.

Program
Hours\ Pick-Up Procedure
The Folsom Falcon’s Nesting Place
(FFNP), morning program will open at 7:00AM and will be located in the library
or cafeteria. Parents and students will enter through the main
entrance. You will need to buzz the teacher and she will unlock the door. You
will then walk your child to the assigned room, and sign in and record your
time.
The afternoon ends at 6:00PM. When you
are picking up your child you will buzz the teacher and you will state whom you
are picking up until the teacher connects parents with children. You will then
sign your child out and again record the time. The school clock will be the
official time. Please notify your emergency pick-up person of this procedure.
If you are going to be late, please make
the necessary arrangements to have your child picked up on time. Lateness will
result in additional charges and program exclusion.
Operational Dates
Refer to the school calendar. Please
note: On early dismissal, the program is open from 12:45-6:00PM.
School
Closing, Delayed Openings and Early Dismissal
If the school closes for the day due to inclement weather, there will be no childcare that day.
If the school
has a delayed opening, the program will be delayed.
If the school has early dismissal due to inclement weather, there will be no Child Care Program.
Parents must notify the school if there are any changes in emergency people and numbers.
Discipline
Policy
The FFNP’s philosophy, is to guide children in becoming happy, responsible,
cooperative participants in this program through positive, non threatening
teaching techniques; to increase children’s respect for themselves by guiding
them to become responsible for their own actions; to help them grow in respect
for their rights and feelings of other people; and to promote safety at all
times.
When conflict over the rights of other
people and property develop, we will work with the individual child, listening
to what each has to say, and help to resolve the conflict through effective
communication.
A serious discipline problem is one in
which a child is hampering the smooth flow of the program by either requiring
constant one-on-one attention, is inflicting physical or emotional harm on other
children, physical or is otherwise unable to conform to the rules and guidelines
of the program.
When a conflict occurs, the following
procedure will be implemented:
1.
A child
may not be allowed to participate in the activity where conflict exists for a
period of time.
2. If the conflict continues, parents will be notified with a written notice upon pickup. This must be signed when received.
3. Three written notices will result in suspension from the program.
4.
If conflicts
continue upon re-admittance into the program, the child will be
suspended indefinitely from the program.
It is our policy never to use
methods of physical abuse for resolving conflicts.
Similarly, we will not allow others, including the children, to do so within the
jurisdiction of the program. Any parental complaint should be addressed to the
teacher or the FFNP board. It should be understood that this program is provided
as a service and is not a district requirement. Problem individuals will
be suspended indefinitely from the program.
Snacks
You may send breakfast (AM session) or a
snack (PM session) with your child if you desire. We will also have a school
snack available for $0.50 during the PM session.
Attendance
You must call 561-8666 or send in a note
to report a prolonged program absence or any change in your schedule.
Accident
Insurance
Accidents are covered by the
“Blanket” district insurance. It
is highly recommended that parents purchase the “Round-the-Clock” Insurance
plan for their child\children, especially if you have no other accident
insurance. Accidents must be reported to the director of the Folsom Falcon’s
Nesting Place at the time of the accident in order to qualify for insurance.
Program

Children in grades Pre-K through 8th
who attend the Folsom Elementary School are eligible for participation in the
FFNP.
