Folsom School Summer Reading Program (For Students entering Grade 9 at Hammonton, please scroll to bottom of this page for important information).
In
an effort to encourage our students to read this summer, Folsom
School is continuing a summer reading program for students entering
the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. This program is patterned after
those being used in other area schools, with good results. The
students have been given a list of books to read. Each student
should choose one book and keep a reaction journal for that
book. The following is a list of books included in the summer reading
program. Every student must choose one from the grade that
they will be going into next year.
Each student must write a reaction journal with at least ten (10) well developed entries. Directions for completing this journal may be found by clicking on this link: The Reaction Journal. All entries should be written in clear complete sentences and paragraphs. Journal entries should not be a summary of the plot.
These journals will be collected by the classroom teacher in
September and may be used as part of the Reading grade for the
first marking period.
