Board Notes – February 26, 2008
Mrs. Wendt was recognized by the board as 2008 Governor’s Teacher of the Year for Folsom School, and was presented with an award by board president Mimi Veneziani.
Mayor Ballisteri presented information on the borough’s acquisition of 30 acres through an Open Space Preservation Grant. The land is contiguous to both the school and borough and can be used for recreational activities or as exchange acreage for any future building.
Mrs. Rishel and Mr. Smurlo presented the preliminary 2008-09 school budget. The proposed budget contains NO tax increase for Folsom residents, while maintaining all current positions and programs, as well as addressing a variety of instructional, transportation, and facilities issues. More information will be presented at the formal Budget Hearing on March 19 at 6 p.m.
Mrs. DeStefano and her students presented information about the Let Me Learn Program instituted two years ago at Folsom School.
Hammonton tuition contracts for the upcoming school year for regular and special education students were approved.
The board authorized specifications and soliciting of bids for the septic field project to be completed this summer.
Board member Kathy McGee’s resignation was accepted, with regrets.
The board approved advertising teaching vacancies for the upcoming school year.
Pamela Parkhurst, Sweetwater, was approved as a substitute teacher.
All professional development staff requests were approved.
Field trips for the basketball teams were approved.
