Board Notes – May 13, 2008
A public hearing was held regarding the School Business Administrator’s contract for the upcoming year.
Infinite Campus Data System presented its student software program via Webex. The board is continuing to search for software which will allow parent access to grades and cafeteria account.
A Section 125 Premium Only Plan, allowing staff to purchase additional health benefits or compensation in lieu of benefits.
RAMM Environmental Services was approved to manage the district’s AHERA plan.
Facilities use request by Falcon’s Nest was approved for their spring play.
Mrs. Veneziani, Board President, presented the new board committee appointments.
Second-round bids for the new septic field will be opened on June 10. Plans are to complete this project during the summer months.
Mrs. Cathy Berenato was named as the Folsom Friend of Education for 2008, for her generosity to the district for many years. She will be honored at the June 24th board meeting.
Mrs. Rishel presented the final report from the New Jersey Quality School Accountability Continuum (state monitoring). Folsom has been rated as a “High Performing District”—the highest possible rating from the Department of Education.
The board approved staffing reappointments for the coming school year. Mrs. Scheer, Ms. Abbamondi, and Mr. Edwards will accrue tenure in September.
The board approved the recommendation to allow cafeteria workers, bus/playground aides, and custodians to convert up to 3 sick days yearly to personal days, as needed, with advance approval from the superintendent.
The board approved advertising externally for part-time and substitute custodians, playground/bus aides, and classroom aides.
A summer library program, to be run by Mrs. Wendt during July, was approved.
A compensatory summer speech/language program, provided by Mrs. Kachmarchyk, was approved.
A summer support/reading program was approved.
The board accepted the resignations of Sharon Rice and Marie Peterson.
Ms. Danielle Horan was approved as music teacher for the 2008-09 school year.
Mrs. Ruggiero, Mrs. DeStefano, Mrs. Russell, Mrs. Storey, Mrs. Hoffman, and Ms. Abbamondi were approved for summer enrichment curriculum development.
All professional development requests were approved.
Safety Patrol/Tech Club/Student Council trip to Atlantic City was approved.
New science texts for grades 6, 7, and 8 were approved.
