Application Procedures / Timelines for 2009-2010 School Yr.
The legislation and regulations governing the Interdistrict Public School Choice program (school choice program) has established a process for student application to choice districts. Below is a timeline showing the steps which must be taken, and the documents which must be submitted, in order for a student to participate in the school choice program at the Folsom School District. November 3,  2008 Notice of Intent to Participate in the School Choice Program Parent/Guardian must submit Notice of Intent to Participate to the Superintendent of the district in which the student currently resides.  
November 24, 2008 Written notification to the parents that the student may or may not participate in the school choice program District of residence sends to the parent/guardian.  
December 1,  2008 Student Application to the Folsom School District, including written notification from district of residence* Parent/Guardian submits to the Folsom School District.  
January 5, 2009 Choice district written Notification of Acceptance or Rejection of a student's application. Folsom School District sends this notice to parent/guardian and to the district of residence.  
January 12, 2009 Student's Notice of Intent to Enroll in the Folsom School District. Parent/Guardian sends this notice to the Folsom School District.  Folsom School District notifies district of residence.  
January 26, 2009 Notice of Acceptance to next student(s) on waiting list. If Folsom School District does not receive Notices of Intent to Enroll by the due date from all students accepted in the first round, Folsom School District sends the Notice of Acceptance to the next student(s) on the waiting list, in order, to fill the seats available.  
February 2, 2009 Student's Notice of Intent to Enroll in the Folsom School District. Parent/Guardian sends this notice to the Folsom School District.  Folsom School District notifies district of residence.  
  Note: If your child has been placed on the waiting list at the choice district, you may still receive a Notice of Acceptance during the second application cycle.  Important: Make copies of all forms for your records before submitting them.  Obtain signed and dated receipts for all forms you submit, either by sending the forms via certified mail, return receipt requested; or delivering the forms and obtaining a signed and dated receipt from the person to whom you delivered the forms.
 
* In the event that the district of residence fails to provide timely notification to the student's parent or legal guardian stating whether or not the student may participate in the school choice program, the parent or legal guardian of the student may submit the application directly to the choice district without the district of residence notification.  If you did not receive a notification from your district of residence, make a note on the application that no notification was received.
