Following nominations by board members, parents, teachers, and
students, Mrs. Devenny was selected to be the Folsom School 2009-10 Educational
Services Professional of the Year in recognition of her outstanding service.
Acknowledgement through the New Jersey Governor’s Teacher Recognition
Program/Educational Services Professional Program is especially significant
because it involves all members of the school community in recognizing
excellence. Mrs. Devenny is an important member of our Child Study Team, and is
often a parent’s first introduction to the process of assessing and accessing
services for a child. She provides an important link between home and school.
Additionally, Mrs. Devenny has helped many families to secure community support
services, such as low cost health care and family counseling. Mrs. Devenny also
offers a safe haven for students in need of a trusted adult to talk with during
times of crisis. She has provided individual and group counseling for students
across the grades. This year, Mrs. Devenny also procured services through the
county to provide life skills classes for our younger students, and after school
sessions for middle school students which culminated in an enjoyable day at an
indoor water park. Like many of the Folsom Staff, she often goes above and
beyond what is required and is an asset to our school and community.
